THE EFFECTS OF VOCABULARY MASTERY AND GRAMMAR MASTERY ON NARRATIVE WRITING SKILL

Abstract

ABSTRACT

This research is aimed to get emperical data and analyze the effects of vocabulary mastery and grammar mastery on narrative writing skill. To find out the effect of vocabulary mastery on narrative writing skill. To find out the effect of grammar mastery on narrative writing skill. The method of the research is survey. The research was held at class x of state vocational school at west Jakarta and took 60 students as the sample. Data collecting by giving test for writing skill (make a composition or an essay about narrative writing), test for vocabulary mastery (multiple choice/ 50 items), and test for grammar mastery (multiple choice/50 items) given to class x at SMKN 53 and SMKN 42, on September until Desember 2018.The result of study identified that 1). There are significant effects of Vocabulary Mastery and grammar mastery on The Students’ Narrative Writing Skill, it can be proven by the value of (Fo = 155,424 and Sig = 0,000 < 0,05. 2). There is significant effect of Vocabulary Mastery on the Students’ Narrative Writing Skill it can be proven by the value of (Sig = 0.001 < 0,05 and ttest = 3,641; while ttable = 2,000). 3).There is significant effect of grammar mastery on the students’ narrative writing skill it can be proven by the value of (Sig = 0.000 < 0,05 and ttest = 5,133 while ttable = 2,000).
